Below, you will find a sampling of my coursework which deals with technology and local/national citizenship education. Each of these items demonstrates ways teachers can use technology in the social studies classroom to teach their students about North Carolina and the United States.
The C3 Framework instructional plan below uses the Inquiry Arc format to encourage students to develop compelling questions about the regions of their state, focusing on geography, climate, and economy.
Similar to the lesson above, this NC Regions lesson uses Tackk to allow students to create a visual representation of their inquiry as they work as "realtors" to sell a region of North Carolina.
Below are examples of how Tackk and Prezi can be used to present a lesson plan concerning citizenship.

The video below summarizes a PBI Project in which students used Tackk to learn more about a book they were reading in ELA. This could easily be translated into a social studies classroom for a citizenship education related lesson.

Below is a lesson in which students create soundscapes of various historical industries in North Carolina.
This website is an example of how teachers can use websites to present information to students regarding lessons on local history and culture.
